All Nova Scotia residents without family doctors can now access virtual primary care on Maple through the VirtualCareNS program in partnership with Nova Scotia Health<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Toronto, 10-December-2021 \u2014 Maple, Canada\u2019s leading virtual care platform, is proud to <\/span>announce the expansion<\/span><\/a> of the VirtualCareNS pilot program in partnership with Nova Scotia Health, allowing unattached patients across the province to connect with primary care providers online through their computer, tablet, or phone. After a successful launch last spring in the province\u2019s Northern and Western zones and with over 10,000 registrations, the program is now extending invitations to all patients still on the <\/span>Need a Family Practice Registry<\/span><\/i> including in Central and Eastern zones.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re proud to build on the early success of this innovative program, and continue working with Nova Scotia Health to bring virtual care to those without a primary health care provider,\u201d said Shelly-Ann Rampersad, VP, Clinical Operations at Maple. \u201cWe\u2019re focused on providing timely access to care for all Nova Scotians in need, and will continue to use feedback to optimize the experience for patients and providers .\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Using the VirtualCareNS program, powered by Maple, patients can receive medical advice, prescriptions, lab and diagnostic imaging requisitions, and referrals to specialists in the province. If a patient\u2019s concern can\u2019t be resolved virtually, they\u2019ll also be provided options for in-person care, where providers on-site can access previous virtual visit records through the Maple platform.<\/span><\/p>\n

Earlier this year, Maple and Health PEI announced the expansion of a similar service for those in Prince Edward Island, to reduce the number of patients visiting walk-in clinics or emergency departments and to support those without access to a family doctor. More than 5,000 people have signed up for the PEI Unaffiliated Virtual Clinic, powered by Maple, and more than 5,000 consultations have been completed to-date.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
